Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for a dedicated, hard-working and dependable candidate with a positive attitude to join our team as a Mechanical Design Engineer. Provides technical expertise in the area of development and design of new or existing equipment. This position requires a person who is versed in many different facets of engineering for machinery design.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the mechanical design and drawings of assembly and process equipment, and assembly fixtures
  • Analyze the process inputs (assembly rate target, ergonomics, quality requirements, etc.) and translate those inputs in functional designs and processes
  • Work directly with the production, machining, and quality departments to determine equipment specifications for safe, high quality, and efficient equipment design solutions
  • Present layout and conceptual drawings for project approval
  • Proper and accurate documentation of equipment including layouts, assembly drawings, details, and BOM’s
  • Perform all design calculations and specify materials
  • Design equipment according to applicable design and safety codes, and established standard within theorganization
  • Provide design support during the fabrication, assembly, installation, and start-up of the equipment
  • Produce all detail drawings for construction using SolidWorks CAD software

Experience and Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from an institution with an accredited engineering program
  • 3 to 7 years pertinent experience in assembly equipment and fixture design
  • Experience with conceptualization, quoting, BOM, and special machine design in a team based environment is required
  • Must be proficient in SolidWorks or Creo Parametric CAD software, projects budgeting, and engineering calculations
  • Knowledge of electrical schematic drawing, control design, and PLC programing a strong advantage for this position
  • Must have thorough understanding of applicable equipment safety regulations
  • Have thorough understanding of machine shop, fabrication, and quality control aspects of machine operation
  • Knowledge of current state-of-the-art equipment components, including pneumatic and electrical
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
